Great writing starts with a great writer.
That’s where H.A.F. Creative can help. Owner Holly Fisher has more than 17 years of experience as a writer and editor, having worked as a journalist for newspapers around the country. She’s also written company blogs, marketing and website copy, edited books and manuals.
What makes Holly tick:
If I could describe myself and my career in one word, I think it would be “storyteller.” In all my years as a reporter, editor and even working in public relations that’s the piece I like – learning about people, listening to their experiences and then sharing those stories through words.
It may sounds cliché to say “everyone has a story,” but it’s true. Even the people who don’t think they have much to share, have a story tucked away in the pages of their past – the key is making them feel comfortable sharing it or asking the right questions to help it come to the surface.
When I was about 12 years old, I decided I wanted to be a newspaper reporter and never looked back. Fortunately, I was able to live out that childhood dream for more than decade, working at newspapers in Ohio, West Virginia, Indiana, Texas and South Carolina.
In November 2011, I decided to merge everything I loved into my own custom business: H.A.F. Creative. To keep my fingers in journalism, I write for a variety of publications, including The Post and Courier, Lowcountry Parent, Charleston Living, AARP Bulletin, North Charleston Magazine and more. I edit Traveler of Charleston, a quarterly visitor publication, and manage Traveler’s blog and social media.
Nonprofit work is a personal passion so I’ve turned that love into PR and marketing work for a variety of Charleston area nonprofits, including the Charleston Parks Conservancy, Lowcountry AIDS Services, Commonwealth Cares Foundation, The Footlight Players, Chase After a Cure, and The ARK, Alzheimer’s family support services. Plus, I help small businesses tell their stories, including Franklin & Associates Inc., Moranz Entertainment and others.
When I’m not working, I’m hanging out with my husband of 15 years, Clint, and our 7-year-old daughter Kate. We’re an animal-loving house with two Labs, a Yorkie and one Leopard Gecko. My husband and I love doing CrossFit and weight training plus traveling – especially to the mountains and West Coast.
